HermeticMind desktop app
See your affirmations while you work.
Your own affirmations, on your computer screen at random moments, in a random place and a random look. Windows first, then Mac.
Repetition without the pattern.
The mind tunes out anything predictable. On websites it's called banner blindness: people stop looking where adverts usually sit. An affirmation that always comes in the same corner, on the hour, in the same style, soon goes unread.
- The place. Anywhere round the edge of your screen. Never over the work in the middle, never on top of the last one.
- The moment. A random moment inside the range you choose, from one every 2 to 4 minutes to one every 10 to 20.
- The look. One of over 2,000 combinations of shape, font, colour and how faint or solid. Your words stay exactly the same.
It can't be clicked and never takes the keyboard, so it stays out of your way. Sources: Benway and Lane (1998); Turatto and De Tommaso (2023); Schumann, Petty and Clemons (1990).
One belief, said twelve ways.
A deck is one goal, written as up to 12 affirmations. Six ready-made decks come with the app. Edit them, or write your own, and add more free decks.
Every deck carries a goal and up to four benefits: the personal reasons you want it. Each time your affirmations go round, one benefit appears among them to remind you why.
As you write, the three P's from The Kybalion Unlocked sit on the page: personal, positive, present. How to write an affirmation
Stay with a deck for weeks, not days.
In a 2010 study at University College London, a new daily habit took a median of 66 days to become automatic, and missing a day made little difference. The app starts with your computer and counts the days with each deck, with 66 marked.
